Google buys online daily deals Website

"We are impressed with what the team at The Dealmap achieved and we are delighted to welcome you to Google," Google spokeswoman said in a statement Monday.


In a further foray into the online savings market, U.S. Internet giant Google announced the acquisition by an unspecified price, The Dealmap, a site that meets on a map all the specials offered in a city.
 
"We are impressed with what the team at The Dealmap achieved and we are delighted to welcome you to Google," Google spokeswoman said in a statement Monday.
 
"We are delighted with the rapid success of our commercial offerings, and we believe they can help us create products and better service for consumers and merchants," he added referring to this young company.

The Dealmap, based in Menlo Park, California, was released in May 2010. The site, which has about two million users and 400,000 daily specials, summarizes the available offers by city.
 
Google had launched Google Offers in June, a similar discount service currently available in Portland, Oregon (northwest), San Francisco, California (west) and New York, and will soon be in Austin, Texas (south), Boston (Massachusetts , northeast), Denver (Colorado, West), Seattle (Washington, Northwest) and Washington DC.

Google bets and competing with rival Groupon, based in Chicago, the leader of online coupons for a wide range of products and services.
 
Groupon, which claims 83 million subscribers, has already rejected an offer to buy Google for 5,000 million last year.

Facebook also got this year in the market for everyday discounts online, in April began offering local offerings to social network members in five U.S. cities.
