Getting together with the talented photographer Call Walsh at Hot & Cold Studios again was a blast. This time we were joined by talented stylist Nat Trevis and former gymnast french sweetheart Bareface model Vanessa G for some serious lessons in photography gels.
Nat had pulled very unique clothes from the likes of Spanish cultbrand Desigual onto which she had stitched reflective material to contrast against the background created with the gels.
MAKEUP & HAIR
In terms of Makeup & Hair I tied in with the reflective materials used on the clothing and colour coding of the gels.
Initially I had designed relatively graphic eyemakeup emphasized through the use of dark green glitter in certain areas, hoping to catch the flash. However, having shot the first two images, it became apparent that the glitter's reflections were only minimal. So ... off with the glitter and on with Illamasqua's miracle Liquid Metal in silver ... this reflected much better with the flash and in an almost beautifully unpredictable way - in general I am a control freak when it comes to makeup application, I love to create light reflections where I need and want them, however, at the same time I love when makeup becomes alive and unpredictable as well, which is why I sometimes love to use cream eye shadows like Chanel's eye gloss and Illamasqua's Liquid Metals - they smudge and move to their own rhythm.
I tied the hair into a high ponytail, gave it a good tease and created a deconstructed loose bun ala Lanvin and wrapped it in reflective material supplied by our stylist.
