More from my travels. You see this window on the way to the Sistine Chapel. They take you through all these stairs and walkways, and you end up smack in the middle of the Chapel, but on the way there are a lot of beautiful pieces of art, including this stained glass window. This picture turned out really well, somehow.
Family i must say, i fall'n in love again...believe me its not that hard to do, after you take a look at the lovely Wendy Cheng....so, check her, leave a comment and fall in love..... JINX How did you come up with the name of your blog? It was really random. My blog started out with a combination of my initials, which didn't sound too fashionable or anything near at all. I wanted 'BlackCoffee' at first because of All Saints' Black Coffee and the black coffee itself. But it was taken, so I thought of BreadCrumbs, which was also taken. Frustrated, I thought, why not combine both? And that was how I got BlackCoffeeCrumbs. Besides, a cup of black coffee with toasted bread crumbs all over the saucer plate really goes with an issue of Vogue in the morning - really soothing. I wanted my blog to be that way.
How did you describe your style? Anything that looks good on me, basically. Like the famous Hubert de Givenchy said, 'The dress must follow the body of a woman, not the body following the shape of the dress'. It is really true in a sense that, the trend report might reckon round sunnies being the 'It' thing but if it doesn't flatter any features on my face, I wouldn't go for it. So, to look good, for me I would always opt for something more feminine, with a little neatness and clean-cuts, and most importantly looking casually laid-back, at the same time. I don't like being too prepped up or being too trashy. I like it in the middle. I am also more biased towards monotone colours like black, white and my all time favourite, grey. When in doubt, I would always grab grey.

What made you start a fashion blog? Fashion blogosphere was initially made known to me by my sisters, who are also fashion bloggers themselves and my very first encounter was with Karla, Camille of Childhoodflames and Jak&Jil. I was like, 'Where have I been all this while??' After months of being fascinated by them blogs, blogfollowing, blogreading you name it, I finally decided to give it a go. Unlike others, I started my blog with a mission to create affordable styles which are able to stand up on their own without having the labels playing much of a role in it. Other than that, it also serves as a fashion portfolio for myself and to fill up the little time that I have everyday. That pretty much compiled the reason behind the existence of my blog.

What do you think you bring to the fashion blog world? LOL honestly, nothing at the mo. I am still a newbie, still exploring, still unknown. But, I hope to create new styles and new trends with a little artistic feel injected to it. I would love to collaborate both fashion and art into my blog. And, I hope that, by being 'Jinx-ed', I must have brought something to the fashion blog world, am I? Or am I not? *winks How is your style different from anyone else? I don't really consider my style being different from others. I picked up a little bit of here and there and had it made to suit me and my personality. So, what makes it different, would be me, the wearer, I guess :-)

Who is your inspiration? Style wise, I always find Jacqueline Kennedy being an inspiration in the fashion world. She is the epitome of elegance and beauty both combined. Definitely iconic, she is also definitely a trendsetter of the 50's and pretty much determined how formal wear should look like even till now. On a daily basis, I find my mom being such an inspiration in my life. Besides God, I count on her for words of wisdom and life advices. What impression do you want to leave on the people that visits your blog? That I don't bite LOL. Other than that, I would love to inspire people to start a fashion blog or any other blogs and just speak their mind and get creative. I would love if my blog could make people feel as though they've just had a cup of coffee over a fashion magazine.

StyleCard: EarthStones Darya Wedge

Summer is a great time for no fuss, no muss casual looks. It was such a treat to be able to kick off my prim feet and slide my avatar tootsies into these amazingly detailed Darya Wedges from EarthStones. Abraxxa Anatine delivers more of her recognizable earthy delights, with the added benefit of two metal options, an assortment of specially selected semi-precious stone accents to match the rich colored leather. Once again a beautiful job done on the foot shape to create a more natural looking foot without the need for prim toes.

To complete my lazy day look, I threw on a pair of damaged jeans by EmJay which I shortened to capri length, an olive tank from Maitreya and the absolutely fantastic EarthStones Leather & Laced Belt. Other touches like the Samsara Hair from ::69:: (with custom tinted hat) and an UZURI Necklace make this an outfit I had to 'folder' so I can wear it again and again.

Check out these Darya Wedges at EarthStones.

The Stuff;

Shoes - Darya Wedges in Sienna, EarthStones

Jeans - Ripped Dark Jeans, EmJay

Top - RB Tank - Green, Maitreya

Rest of Resort

Straw hat, lace top

Old Navy
עליונית תחרה - H&M
חצאית - מכנסי יד שניה שהפכתי לחצאית
חגורה - וינטג'
כובע - מהארון של אמא

The summer is hot, the sun is shining and even though usually hats are not part of my fashionable choices, this time it felt right. I think it's mainly because of the little tatter in the front as well as its simplicity.

Shirt - Old Navy
Lace top - H&M
Skirt - second hand pants that turned into a skirt
Belt - vintage
Hat - from my mom's closet

Designer Dangerouse Reconstructing Vintage

There is so much romance hanging on our wall of hope in our Jersey City Atallier. Some of you may ask why I keep showing previews of our spring collection, well I believe you are only as good of a designer as you inspire those around you and checking you out on line. If you want to live in a world of beautiful things that means its not enough to make them and hide them all to yourself, you have to immediately put it out there like "The Secret" so the law of threefold can hit you back 10 times harder.

The past 6 days have been spent all locked up in the studio hand sewing away reconstructing vintage pieces into something new while reinforcing the beauty they've aged with. Jennifer Fein and I challenged ourselves to use what is in house already. Meaning we've found good use to put her ebay addiction to work and all of the scraps of fabrics laying around both of our apartments as musings. and I mustn't forget to mention a kind donation of vintage from my old assistant's Chelsea girl closet as well as a pile of I love these but they don't fit vintage from Jamie Nelson's closet. Here is a sneak peak at our lives behind the seams.

applying a new breast pad to a vintage bustier. The pink raw silk was sparingly laying around,we took the stich patter from a vintage bra I found at a Paris flea market.

I love remade vintage clothing, the unique appeal that comes with them. They are quite precious and expensive. Sometimes when I've seen boutiques attempt this they don't quite give the care that this art entails. Naturally money is involved as well. This is such a timely project like that of a couture house entails. We are not sure if there is a market for our creations but we love them and if no one ever buys one they will exist to simply please us and our friends who love them.

I created this feather trim by cutting a strip of fabric that had some metal like fibers to it. Inserted 3 feathers or so every quarter of an inch onto double stick tape. Then I hand stitched the strand of fabric down and blind stitched it to our garment. This garment is actually a vintage bra from the 20's paired with a slip skirt from the same time however we've made it into a dress.

Romper in the works...The back of all the fabric is lined with nude chiffon for reinforcement. You can't see but there is some fine embroidery up close that I want to preserve.

Jennifer had this black brushed silk slip that was falling apart in so many areas that she gave me full creative liscense to do what ever I wanted. So I am turning it into a romper by cutting a pattern out and merging it with some fine lace trim that I'd been saving for a rainy day.

This is a vintage pink slip meant to be worn on the hips. We added 2 victorian collars one made into an apron and a drawstring to the middle so it can be worn as a unique little top.

Hana Mayeda in tutu extraordinaire!!!

I think that in a time such as now with such a horrible economy it is important to do what you love and enjoy more than ever because no matter your job you are probably financially struggling either way,so struggle for love!!!

The Cirque is in Town...

Corny title aside, Forever 21 just created this... capsule collection, I guess... called Cirque 21. At first glance, I didn't like any of it, but after actually going through the individual pieces, I realized just how cute most of them were.

Okay, first of all: those jackets and vests are ridiculous. I want all of them, but I have to see if I can justify buying 100 dollars worth of outerwear. Sounds pretty worthwhile to me! :P Anyway, I quite like the girly, retro bandleader/ringleader vibe that this collection has. Lord knows I rarely ever wear skirts or dresses, but I can definitely see myself wearing the jackets and shirts with pants. Speaking of pants, I'm trying to get out of wearing jeans so often. It's hard, though!

Oh, and if you're wondering why there are so many posts about F21, it's because I stalk that store. It's pretty sad, really.

Photos from F21, obviously.

Grow your own jewelry

Perhaps due to the economical chrisis, or mabey as part of the ecological trend, several designers thought recently about other materials for jewelry. Well it made me smile, and as I wrote in the past, any design that makes me smile is worth sharing.
The jewelry above were made by the following designers: adorn jewelry, Hafsteinn Juliusson, Barara Uderzo

Family you've got to check out my girl...Coline you will not be disapointed....
So yes, I went to see Spring Awakening at the Kennedy Center this past Saturday. We actually got there about 20 minutes late, so I missed seeing my favorite song from the play, "The Bitch of Living." Buuuuuuuut...

During intermission, we went to the box office to see if we could get on-stage seats for the later show. There weren't any, but there was one ticket for Sunday's show at 1:30. My best friend graciously offered to pay for the ticket (because on the train, I was visibly upset about being late, I suppose), so I got to go again.

On Sunday, I sat stage left. Honestly, the show was great from the balcony, but it was SO. MUCH. BETTER on stage. The actors were leaping around, dancing, singing at us... it was great. I would actually see the play again.

Also, Craig from Degrassi (Jake Epstein) plays Melchior Gabor. I must say though, I liked the "ensemble" more than the principal characters. The guy who played Moritz Stiefel, , was ah-mazing. He was a little hammy, but I think that was intentional; his singing, however, was incredible and gave me goosebumps.

Kay, so that's enough gushing.

After the show on Saturday, my friend and I went to this restaurant called Acadiana. If you live around D.C., do yourself a favor and GO to Acadiana. From the minute they brought out the biscuits, I knew we had made a good decision.

We had: buttermilk biscuits with some sort of chili pepper marmalade and butter concoction, plums and peaches wrapped in prociutto, a trio of pies (vegetable, crawfish, and pork and beef), redfish, and finally, crawfish. All of the food is Cajun-Southern... and all of it is delicious.

I didn't take any pictures of the food, because I always feel funny doing that, but maybe next time...?

How'd you spend your weekend?

I've been following the Mannheim, Germany natives for quite some time now...and
i must say, their blog is not just full of eye candy it's a journey. I so appreciate the
time that Ngoc and Laura has given me. "we don't think that our style is new, different or something like that. we don't try to be up to date"... So please enjoy, the two 22 year old minds of 'The Sucking Sucks'
how do you describe your styles
Laura: i adore the color black, cause I always feel it is a form of timeless elegance. Also, I adore the style of the 60ties mods in England and their whole music scene. Ngoc: I love different colours and also non-colours such as black and white. My style is rather simple and clean with a touch of chicness. I love basics.

what made you start a fashion blog
We wanted to start a documentary about our progress focusing on our personal style and our time together. We have a lot in common: we live together, we have the same major and we share the same experiences in sorrow and happiness. We also want to show how diverse our city Mannheim is. The city is known as dirty and repelling - but we love the city and want to show how we perceive Mannheim.

what do you think you bring to the fashion blog world
I don't think we bring a lot of new things to the "blogger world". We don’t write about runway shows or collections because we think that there are other blogs who are better for this kind of stuff like horstandlynn, for example. Our strength is our sense of acting on the spur of the moment. We capture moments that are important to us. We show down-to-earth street style, maybe this is why people like our blog.

who is your inspiration
Laura: I adore the style of the 60ties mods in England and their whole music scene. Movies like “quadrophenia” are a source of inspiration for me. I also try to mesh up this mod glam with my personal view on things. Ngoc: My everyday life is my inspiration. People around me, blogs, the music world and movies also inspire me a lot.

what impression do you want to leave on the people that visits your blognice girls, wonderful pictures, interesting stories - pure life ha ha :D
