Breaking news: Alexander McQueen dead

What a shock...I don't really know what to say. There's no denying his talent, his vision and what he has given to the fashion world. It's a shame that he's gone at such a (relatively) young age and just at the beginning of Fashion Week. He will definitely be missed at London Fashion Week, and not just because of the clothes he created. My prayers and thoughts are with his family.

Here is the BBC reportage.

Valentines From The Lair

Back again, sorry for keeping you waiting so long. A double shot of shoe love from Kitties Lair today. Babette Ultsch makes me super happy with her pretty shoes, I stalk her main store often to see what's new and got very lucky with these fantastic styles. These will be perfect for a Valentine's date or to give yourself a little valentine.

Don't miss the Alisa Pumps in many colors, textures and prints. What makes these special is the contrast metal heels, in silver or gold (or the color of the pump itself), and the strap across the toe that can also be customized. It seems like it has been forever since I found a pump this delicious. I highly recommend these.

The Nadia Sandals are a great foot-in-shoe option, definitely sexy with their platform base, and ankle strap. The Kitties Lair foot is really well done and fairly easy to custom match to your skin, loads of great nail color options and metal choice included. I really love the delicate pearl colored ones.

Put both Nadia and Alisa on your shopping list and visit Kitties Lair soon!

you come up with the name of your blog My last name is “Wei”. I would’ve gone with “bythewei” but another Wei got their filthy hands on it first. when were you introduced to fashion When I was able to say, “No, ma! I’m NOT wearing that to school! *Tears of anger rolling down face*”.

how do you describe your style A clusterfuck of complimentary and opposing elements what made you start a fashion blog A job position stated that applicants with personal blog experience would be a bonus. So now I’m stuck with the blog. I kid! I didn’t get the job but it’s been very rewarding to continue nonetheless.

what do you think you bring to the fashion blog world Positivity, creativity and maybe some slight confusion. Additionally, I will guide you through your procrastinations. how is your style different than everyone else I’d like to think my style is about fearlessly dabbling into a wide range of looks who is your inspiration Rihanna

what impression do you want to leave on the people that visits your blog Fashion and style are subjective and there is no right or wrong. Therefore, in the end it’s best to make the most of things by just being yourself and doing what you feel. And if that means stepping out of the norm or your comfort zone then take the risk because it’s always better to stand out and be different than to blend in and be the same. If you believe in how you look then people will too.

who is your favorite designer GAWD. This one is too difficult to answer honestly. I admire all designers for different pieces of their work. I’m afraid I really can’t answer this one. Don’t hate me. what piece is a must have in your closet Oversized white t-shirts

jump suit

Some of you have probably noticed that I like to have my blog pictures as I'm jumping. It involves some challenge and fun, never in heels though. All winter I've been looking for a decent pair of black shoes, something between ballet flats and moccasins, between feminine and masculine and most important - I wanted them to be comfortable. last week I finally found what I was looking for. A great pair of black shoes that simply has it all and even includes a big bow at the front. so classic yet so fashionable.
About the shirt, I got it from my grandma who sewed it herself a long time ago. it is well sewed and made out of a fine paisley patterned fabric. at the beginning I wasn't sure about this pattern but later I decided that's exactly what I like about the shirt. It reminds me a bit of Diane Von Furstenberg, has a slightly thing in common with Dries Van Noten and it has lots of good granny chic.

pants - Honigman
shirt - sewed by my grandmother (my father's mother)
cardigan - H&M
shoes - Gabriele
clutch - from my grandmother (my mother's mother)

Rachel Roy Pre-Fall

Highlights: Plunging necklines, shoes with cutouts, cropped length pants, pastels and neutrals.

I swear, Rachel Roy keeps getting better and better. A few years ago, on this blog, I blasted one of her collections (honestly, it was hideous). But now, I find myself looking forward to Rachel Roy's products, and this pre-fall showing was no exception. Pink knit pants? Yes, please!
